What Volunteers Do
All of the programs and services at Matthews House are free of charge and volunteer driven. Our active volunteer list is growing and is now over 140, with the latest Training Class.
Some volunteers may choose to support Matthews House by helping out in the day-to-day operation of Matthews House. Others like to help by helping to organize the daily program of activities available at Matthews House.
Our volunteers also participate in our many annual fund raising campaigns throughout the year. You’ll see them at the Potato Festival, Tree of Remembrance, and the Hike for Hospice, our most important fund-raising event.
After attending and graduating from a 30 Hour Client Support Training Session, our new Visiting volunteers will join the others to provide services to the over 160 clients of Matthews House. Our Visiting volunteers provide services in the clients own home. Matthew House is a community hospice, not a residential hospice, supporting our clients in many different stages of life, at their residence. All of our palliative care clients receive caring, compassionate assistance by professionally trained, best matched volunteers directly in their own homes, after an initial in-home assessment has taken place with our client and program coordinator.
Our Volunteer Application Form is available for download if you think you might like to join us. It is the first step to a rewarding experience.
